Sumi’s journey to reconcile noticeable queer difference with Confucian family dynamics resonates deeply among several gay readers in the tongzhi community. The novel follows protagonist Shih Cheng (時澄), or Sumi, as he navigates questions about sexuality and identity that color his childhood and adolescence. The Ecstasy of Galaxies 《天河撩亂》 by author Jih-Wen Wu (吳繼文) is a queer coming of age saga from 1990s Taiwan.
